چکیده

Abstract The Borkewehr section near Balve at the southeastern end of Remscheid-Altena Anticline is currently best and most complete Devonian/Carboniferous Boundary (DCB) succession Rhenish Massif, Germany. Based on a multidisciplinary approach, focusing refined conodont ammonoid biostratigraphy, microfacies analyses, sequence stratigraphy, carbon isotopes (C org C carb ), trace element geochemistry, including REE data, cyclostratigraphy, proposed as candidate for new basal Carboniferous GSSP. represents pelagic “seamount” setting. It spans upper Famennian to lower Viséan, with condensed development lithostratigraphic units sedimentary sequences. type-section oxic strongly cyclic, fossiliferous Wocklum Limestone important uppermost index species. First Appearance Datum (FAD) Protognathodus kockeli s.str., in phylogenetic from ancestral Pr. semikockeli n. sp., future GSSP level. This FAD sandwiched between many other marker levels global correlation. Below are, base top, transgressive least partly anoxic Hangenberg Black Shale (base Lower Crisis Interval), Regression (onset siltstones Middle level maximum regression, indicated by Zr/Al values, initial transgression Upper Interval, marked re-onset carbonate deposition. Above follow locally cryptogenic Siphonodella (Eosiphonodella) sulcata s.l. post-Crisis Interval (Hangenberg Limestone), associated biofacies shift, Si. (Eo.) bransoni , and, much higher, sharp Alum Event classical middle Tournaisian. significance greatly enlarged its precise correlation numerous DCB sections that provide additional data faunas, geochronological ages, magnetic susceptibility. suggest changes weathering intensity, based Rb/K K/Al trends, Milankovitch cyclicity climate Crisis. local extinction rate top lies 57 % while there are no survivors ammonoids, trilobites, or deep-water corals. Positive isotopic shifts decoupled, which suggests complex underlying processes not yet understood.

Biostratigraphy of Devonian-Carboniferous boundary in Tuyeh-Darvar section, north of Iran

Devonian-Carboniferous boundary is not clear in the Eastern Alborz Mountains. In the current study Tuyeh-Darvar section with about 170 m, thickness is selected. In this investigation, the primary goal is revision of Devonian/Carboniferous Boundary (known as DCB) and the other goal is the redefinition of the DCB as a famous necessity (based on ICS program in 2008 for defining the boundary and to...

Late orogenic carboniferous extensions in the Variscan French Massif Central

The Variscan French Massif Central experienced two successive stages of extension from Middle Carboniferous to Early Permian. In the northern Massif Central, the first stage began in the late Visean, immediately after nappe stacking, and is well recorded by NamurianWestphalian synkinematic plutonism. The Middle Carboniferous leucogranites widespread in the NW Massif Central (Limousin and Sioule...

A Late Carboniferous fossil scorpion from the Piesberg, near Osnabrück, Germany

The Late Carboniferous (Pennsylvanian) Coal Measures of Europe and North America have yielded nearly forty accepted scorpion species (Fet et al. 2000); over a third of the known fossil fauna. On the face of it, scorpions would appear to be one of the most diverse groups found within these Coal Measures environments. However, at least some taxa seem to be of questionable validity, having been ra...

Middle Devonian-Early Carboniferous Conodont Faunas from the Khoshyeilagh Formation, Alborz Mountains, North Iran

Conodonts of Khoshyeilagh Formation, the most complete section of Devonian rocks in the Alborz Mountains, northern Iran, has been studied, and subspecies of the genera Icriodus, Bipennatus, Polygnathus, Pelekysgnathus, Ancyrodella, Palmatolepis, Bispathodus, Scaphignathus, Clydagnathus, Gnathodus, Scaliognathus and Dollymae have been obtained from the studied section. The faunas indicate an Eif...
